All-on-4® refers to a full-arch tooth replacement approach where a set number of implants (commonly four to six) are used to support a fixed row of replacement teeth for either the upper or lower jaw.
These implants support a full-arch prosthesis, which — unlike a removable denture — is fixed in place and is not designed to be taken out for cleaning by the patient day to day.
This is different from implant-retained dentures, which use a smaller number of implants to help hold a removable denture more securely, but which the patient still removes for cleaning. All-on-X is a more general, brand-neutral term for the same broad approach — a fixed full arch of teeth supported by implants — where "X" reflects that your dentist may plan for four, five or six implants depending on your bone density and the case.
